The fishing vessel Bouet-FN 537 suffered a leak north of Grenen, Denmark, flooding the engine room. The vessel sent a distress signal to the Skagen Rescue Station as her own pumps were not able to cope with the water ingress.
The rescue operation was immediately started, and both lifeboats from Skagen headed towards the distressed cutter. When FRB08 arrived, a pumper and two rescuers were immediately transferred to the cutter. The pump was quickly installed, but the rescuers wanted an extra pump. The extra help was retrieved from the lifeboat Lars Kruse and brought to the cutter. Fortunately, the waves had subsided a bit, making it easier to maneuver the pumps between the ships.
The skipper on board the cutter had already tried to contact the shipyards in Skagen and Strandby, but they were unfortunately unable to receive him. Therefore, the decision was made to sail towards Laeso. It was agreed that the two rescuers on board the cutter should remain there, while Lars Kruse followed them to Laeso. The fishing cutter Bouet-FN 537 could continue its journey with its own help.
Here at 12.30 the cutter is safely in port on Laeso, and the crew from the Skagen Rescue Station can start shortly, the approx. two-hour long sailing trip, back to Skagen.
Finishing vessel Bouet-FN 537 has a length of 16.00m and beam of 4.00m.
